Meet Audra Claire
Audra Claire started studying violin at the age of 4. She studied for 8 years with Paul Kantor at the Aspen School of Music as well as a University of Michigan and the Cleveland Institute of Music. She studied for 13 yeas with Amos Lawrence, who was the Assistant Concertmaster of Charleston Symphony and an alumnus of the Curtis Institute of Music and the New England Conservatory. She studied with Sonja Foster for 4 years who was an alumnus of both the Curtis Institute of Music and Julliard where she studied with Ivan Galamian. She attended Aspen Music Festival and School for 8 summers, and the Meadowmount School of Music for 1 summer where she studied with Alan Bodman.
Ms. McCall began public performances at the age of 5. She did multiple solo concerts on the Emily Remington Concert Series. She played on several Young Artist Series concerts while at the Aspen Music School. She was a soloist twice on the College of Charleston's Drayton Hall Concert Series as well as the College of Charleston Family Concert Series in Moncks Corner all while in middle school. Ms. McCall performed the Beethoven, the Mendelssohn, and the Dvorak violin concertos as well as the Paganini violin concerto #1 with the Southcoast Symphony and the Civic Metropolitan Orchestra while she was in high school. Her senior year of high school, she was the co-concertmaster of the Youth Orchestrta of the Lowcountry, and was the concertmaster for their side-by-side concert with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. That same year she won the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League Concerto competition and performed the Bruch Scottish Fantasy with the Charleston Symphony. She was then asked back to solo with the Charleston Symphony for the opening concert tof the Spoleto Festival International. Ms. McCall was also a frequent soloist with the Hilton Head Symphony, performing on their Veteran's Day concert, their Beethoven concert, their Nowell concerts as well as several Orchestra League musicales.
Ms. McCall was a featured soloist on the Lowcountry Conservatory of Music's Summer Music Series in 2014. She then performed a solo recital on the Charleston Academy of Music's Rush Hour Series in 2017. Both concerts were performed while she was on faculty a the respective institutions. Ms. McCall performed with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra during the 2016, 2018, 2023, and 2024 holiday seasons. She got the change to play for Michael Buble for his Greenville show in 2021 and was asked back for his Charleston show in 2022. In 2023 Ms. McCall played at the Carolina Opry with Johnny Mathis, as well as for Sarah Brightmas for her Christmas show in Charleston. She has played for many other local and regional events such as Tedx Charleston, the Charleston Gospel Singers, and evensong at St. Phillip's Church. She performs through-out the Southeast for concerts, weddings, and corporate and private events.
